Hi! Since this item is unisex, it does run slightly large with a boxy & relaxed cut, but it is not extremely oversized. Based on the info you've provided, you could wear the medium for a more relaxed fit (with room for layering) or the small for a closer fit. Hope this helps! Erik & team JUDITH

If you are a size 4 I would recommend the 26. The model is a size 2 and is wearing the 25. You can see that they are a bit loose, which is the style. The 27 might be too big unless you like baggy.

hello! the model is wearing the 26. waistband: 31.5" rise: 11.75" it is very difficult to measure the hip as chimala styles fit differently on everyone. many of our customers will size down to wear them more as a high-waisted jean, then size up in another style (usually this style) and wear the waist a bit low-slung on the hip. please let us know if you have any other questions! and thank you for your inquiry! best- finefolk

Inseam: size 24 = 24.5", 26&28 = 25", 30&32 = 25.5" front rise (not including waist band): size 24=10.875" 26=11,125" 28=11.375" 30=11,625" 32=11.875" back rise(not including waist band): size 24=15.25" 26=15.5" 28=15.75" 30= 16 32=16.25 It is high waist with a slight drop in crotch - comfy and very flattering!
