Handwoven cloth in hues of green, burgundy, and yellow plaid. Stunning and subtle colour pallette makes this a rare find, vintage circa 1940s. Considered one of the most significant textiles of the African subcontinent, kente cloth was historically made from silk, reserved for chiefs and kings, and worn as festive dress on special occasions, such as a gathering of elders or the inauguration of new royalty. This style of kente cloth comes from the Ewe people of Togo and Ghana. Ewe kente abounds with proverbial symbolism of both animal and inanimate kind. Material: 100% cotton Measures 45.5" x 70"

Depending on the height of your sink, you may want to fold it in half lengthwise to avoid the cloth dragging on the floor. Since it is a vintage kente comprised of narrow strips of hand woven cotton that have been stitched together, we recommend spot cleaning or dry cleaning this piece if it were to become soiled during its time as a sink skirt.
