Hi thank you for your message! A size medium is about equivalent to a size 8. This is a relaxed fitting jacket with drop shoulder so I think you could get away with either a small or medium depending on your preference of fit (small being more tailored and medium being more oversized). This faux leather is soft and in my opinion hangs nicely on those who I have seen try this on. It is not shiny and more of a brushed/matte finish
