Handwoven table and floor storage from the state of Oaxaca in Mexico. Palm weaving techniques are synonymous with Oaxaca art. The palm baskets of this region were what first drew our attention to the region and ever since Territory has been working to preserve and uplift this art and technique by supporting and promoting the and communities that give it life. These cylindrical baskets are created by the Garcia family and represent some of the finest palm work in the region. Hello. It comes from the fronds. The process in making these baskets includes folding the palm so it's twice as thick as a normal basket (sturdier!) and our partners also apply a natural steam/wax technique which keeps the palm from getting brittle.
