Founded in 1997, BLESS is the creative project of Austrian and German designers Desiree Heiss and Ines Kaag. After designing fur wigs for Martin Margiela’s Fall 1997 show, the European duo focused on their own label. The result? A unique combination of unisex fashion, furniture, and decorative objects that all bear their trademark cheekiness.
New York–based designer Conley Averett launched his independent luxury knitwear brand, Judy Turner, in 2018 with a focus on genderless design and elevated basics. Judy Turner knits are irresistibly retro, yet freshly contemporary and luxe—pieces to wear for many years to come.
British designer Sydney Pimbley launched her eponymous label in 2019 after graduating from Central Saint Martins art school and gaining hands-on experience at Maison Margiela under John Galliano. Her unique designs are sustainable and beautifully authentic—Pimbley melds vintage fabrics, trims, and embroidery to create garments with an ethereal punk vibe.
Since 2015, Sophie Buhai has invigorated the modernist tradition of sterling silver, emphasizing organic forms with substantial weight and clean design, creating fresh classics that go beyond fleeting trends. In addition to Buhai’s silver masterpieces, the Los Angeles–based designer experiments with other materials (including gold and pearl) and explores themes of surrealism and primitivism in her work.
As creative director of Marni for the last four years, Francesco Risso has honored the luxury label’s roots in quirky elegance and architecture first established in 1994 by founding designer Consuelo Castiglioni. But he has also turned a new page for the Italian fashion label, successfully meshing his personal influences in recent collectsions that feature boldly mixed prints and shapes, gender-fluidity, and a rebellious spirit.
