New York City may be one of the world’s high-fashion capitals, but when it comes to independent labels and up-and-coming designers, Brooklyn is the mecca. You could spend years wandering each Brooklyn neighborhood, popping into petit jewelry boutiques and contemporary concept stores (not to mention some amazing vintage shops). We’ve rounded up a few Replica Belts faves for totally unique finds around our go-to borough. Check them out, below.
Designed by Daniella Samper, Ajaie Alaie is a collectsion of womenswear with fluid style that is undeniably modern and a narrative that is hopelessly romantic. The line is designed to focus on the seven chakras in the body with Indian design elements fused with contemporary details and structured silhouettes. Soft fabrics and body-skimming shapes allow for ease of movement and comfort at all times. Whether you are looking to amp up your office wardrobe or need something sultry for a night out, Ajae Alaie has polished, on-point pieces, whatever the occasion.
Founded in the late ’80s under the name Sneaker King, this Brooklyn flagship store has evolved and changed just as much as the community that it serves. In February 2013, the latest iteration of the store came in the form of Alumni, a nod to its background as a New York original nestled in the heart of Crown Heights. Here, you’ll find fresh menswear and eye-catching accessories imbued with that effortlessly hip Brooklyn vibe.
Clyde is a New York City–based label designed by Vancouver native Dani Griffiths. First founded in 2010, she started crafting discerning, crocheted wool accessories followed by a steadily evolving range of hats blocked by hand in a small New York state millinery factory. It’s her hats, in particular, that possess a sculptural beauty while maintaining a straightforward wearability. Griffiths has since added leather goods and handbags to the collectsion. Clyde aspires to not only be a part of the wearer's story but to help tell it by encouraging individual experiences that can, in turn, impart personal meaning to each and every piece.
You’ve probably seen Still Here’s colorful embroidered t(it)-shirt on Instagram. This fan favorite blew up in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and ever since then people seriously can’t get enough. Experts at leisurewear, this New York–based line celebrates color, craftsmanship, ideas, and coziness— all of Replica Belts ’s key values. From witty embroidered tops to hand-painted jeans, Still Here will have you kicking back in head-to-toe fun in no time.
