The essence of my work is to be sustainable, authentic, and unique. I produce intricate, delicate pieces from vintage and reclaimed materials. I love utilizing exquisite fabrics, trims, and embroidery. The creative reuse of fabrics and hand detailing combines to produce desirable, bespoke handcrafted pieces. I forsake fast fashion for slow fashion, something my Grandma taught me the importance of through her make-do and mend mentality.
My love of collectsing materials also came from Grannie. I’ve been compiling a vast stash of fabrics and trims since before I even started studying fashion. I’ve always been drawn in by the beauty of vintage—the fabric quality, colour variations, and the feeling that the materials carry a story and past. The process of piecing these items together to create a garment that is both sustainable and stunning is, for me, the most exciting stage of the design process. It’s a feeling of completeness.
London-based designer Sydney Pimbley crafts intricate, upcycled garments that blend sustainability with artistry. A graduate of Central Saint Martins and recipient of the LVMH Grand Prix Scholarship, her work reflects a deep appreciation for her Welsh heritage through vintage fabrics, hand detailing, and exquisite embroidery. Launched in 2019, her slow fashion brand embodies ethical luxury with a couture touch, informed by her time assisting John Galliano at Maison Margiela.
